On a misty Saturday morning the U10 Garden City Chargers competed aggressively and victoriously vs Lynbrook. The first half the team was down 0-1. After a halftime inspirational speech by Coach Clarke and Coach Schroeder the girls hit the second half with a renewed spirit and fierce determination. More ... After a disappointing loss last week, the Power girls were determined to come out strong, and they did. Right from the beginning the girls took charge with quick, crisp and accurate passing. More ... The third grade boys blue lax team traveled to Northport this past Sunday and began play on a wet, muddy field. The teams appeared to be evenly matched during the opening minutes of play, but then the GC boys got going. To open the scoring, Ryan George sent a well-timed pass to middie Liam Muldoon who fired a shot at the Northport goal. More ... In Round 2 of the Waldbaum's Cup, the Daredevils played extremely hard against the reputable RVC team. At the end of regulation time, the game was tied 1-1, with a goal setup by Carly Knowles to Stephanie Di Pierro, who put it into the net — a familiar sight these days! In sudden death overtime, they relinquished the game to RVC on an unstoppable goal. More ... On Saturday April 26th the Garden City U12 Patriettes were looking to get their first win in League play after a loss and tie in their first 2 games. The day was summer like which was perfect for a game played in memory of a friend. The Patriettes came out with a sense of determination and confidence for their game against the Massapequa Blaze. More ... The GC Warriors hosted the Roslyn Sharks this past weekend, on a cold, rainy morning at Stewart field. The Sharks seemed more comfortable in the water than the Warriors, getting out to an early 2-1 lead, and ultimately winning the rain-shortened game 4-1. The wet grass kept nearly every ball in the infield, but despite the conditions there were some bright spots for the Warriors. More ... Last Saturday, the GC Xtreme hosted the East Islip Red Devils at St Pauls. These two team matched up for the Xtreme's most thrilling victory last fall. To the surprise of no one, this match was another very exciting and very evenly played match. Justice was served and the match was a draw, 1-1. More ... During the Spring Break, The 2009 Garden City High School Varsity Baseball team traveled down to North Carolina and Virginia to play against other high school teams from the south. It was under cloudy skies and in muddy conditions that the Garden City Third Grade Girls Grey Lacrosse team played a tough game and came out with a win against North Shore. The Varsity track team had another stellar week of performances and are rounding into peak form coming into the stretch run of the season. Artisan Social F.C., founded by former Garden City resident Donny Schreier, is establishing its first chapter here in Garden City. Kelli, a UNC grad and former member of the tar heel varsity tennis team, led the league throughout the long winter season. Her husband and two young sons wish to congratulate her on this mothers day. Way to go mom! More ... It was an easy win for the Trojans boys varsity lacrosse team on April 29th as Garden City defeated the Carey Seahawks 11-2. The victory kept the Trojans undefeated in Conference II with a 4-0 record and brought their overall record to 9-3.Will Fuller led the scoring with three goals and one assist. More ...
