Stewart School Time Travel As News Reporters
Third graders in Ms. Michelle Kosel's and Ms. Marissa Pollicino's classes recently travelled back in time to the 1700's to become newspaper reporters. The children studied Benjamin Franklin and George Washington's contributions to our country and the development of our new nation. They were divided into small teams of reporters who researched information on various significant documents in our nation's history, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, as well as investigated the three branches of government. The children wrote news reports and advertisements for print media (pictured here) as if they were living at that time. The project's culminating activity was the sharing of the articles and the creation of podcasts now posted on the class websites.
