Do you remember the "good old days?" That was when a subway ride cost a nickel, you could get lunch at Chock Full of Nuts or the Automat for twenty-five cents, and a child's favorite stores were Woolworth's, Lamston's and Kresge's where they could do their shopping with a variety of items costing 5 cents, 10 cents, or at most a quarter. Life was slower then, as we played in each others yards while our parents sat on the back steps and talked and watched. If you were lucky, you went to the Saturday afternoon show at the movies and got two pictures, the news for the week, the coming attractions for next week, and most important - a chapter of the current serial that played each Saturday. As children, we didn't know how good it was until we grew up and it was gone. But we will always have the memories.

It was a magnificent performance and enjoying it were Joan Kuster with a friend and Mary Polak and Elizabeth Vazquez among many other Garden City folks.
