Assemblyman Thomas McKevitt will be sponsoring a FREE car seat safety event on Friday, May 22nd , from 9:30am to 1:30pm at Village Parking Field 6E in Garden City. Certified instructors will be on hand to assist parents with all they need to know about their car seats, including proper installation and care.

"As the father of a two year-old child, I know how important car seat safety is, and anyone who drives with a young child has a responsibility to ensure his or her safety," Assemblyman McKevitt said. "I hope that by providing this service to the community, we can all work together to ensure greater car safety and save lives."

Appointments are necessary, so area residents who are interested in this free service should call Assemblyman McKevitt's office at 516-739-5119 to reserve a time slot. Village Parking Field 6E is located off of Seventh Street, west of Franklin Avenue in Garden City.

The event will be taking place in the rear of the lot, on the far side of the railroad tracks.

Parents must bring their car seat to the event.
