Fiona MacLeod bringing the ball down the field The sun was beating down this past Saturday late in the afternoon as the girls U-12 travel soccer team Power took on the Great Neck Hawks. The Power's energy helped keep the temperature up to almost 88 degrees. The smoke was coming off the field as the Power turned on their engines and offensively put pressure on the Hawk's defense and goalie consistantly. The Power dominated the Hawks most of the game. The Powers defense kept the ball out of their home goal with determination and great skill. The Power played a sensational game and demonstrated great team work as they skillfully passed the ball down the field. The goalies both Katie O'Sullivan and Danielle Ventre were a tremendous asset with their great saves and fantastic kicks. The Power should also be commended for their passion and sense of unity. It is obvious to all that they show tremendous effort when it comes to team work. Coach Gong and Coach Silk strategically helped the girls utilize their strengths and skills through out the game. The Power managed to keep the Hawks from scoring most of the game. With very little time to spare the Hawks scored and the Power put forth all of their effort to go home with a goal to tie it up. The clock ran out and the game ended 1-0 giving the Hawks the win. As the girls walked away after the game they knew that they put their best effort out there and new as a team that they had the greatest win and that was their team spirit. The Power will be working hard this week at practice to take on the Lynbrook/E. Rockaway Lightning. Power way to go!
