The entire Garden City Youth Lacrosse 4th Grade was hosted by Manhasset as part of the annual Mini Woodstick Classic. The boys played a series of games culminating in a pizza party, which seemed to be the highlight of the evening for many. More ... The GC Hitmen have continued their dominance in the OBLL league with 2 victories over the Massapequa squad. With a 5-2 lead in the first game the Mud Dogs of Massapequa came roaring back with 2 goals in the final minute, but GC was able to hold on thanks to some great saves by Kieran Brown(aka Kdog). More ... The Roughriders of Oyster Bay came to town on Sunday to play the GC Leprechaun Warriors in a highly contested game in 3rd grade boys lacrosse. The Roughriders lived up to their name with some big hits and big checks, however the the and soul of the GC LW's took control early and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. More ... On Saturday, the GC Warriors traveled to East Islip to play the L.I. Junior Ducks for the second time in two weeks. While the Warriors played well, they lost to the Ducks by a score of 13-8.On defense Billy Duff had an outstanding game at first base, where he turned an unassisted double play. More ... The sun was beating down this past Saturday late in the afternoon as the girls U-12 travel soccer team Power took on the Great Neck Hawks. The Power's energy helped keep the temperature up to almost 88 degrees. The smoke was coming off the field as the Power turned on their engines and offensively put pressure on the Hawk's defense and goalie consistantly. More ... Things didn't go well for Garden City's boys JV lacrosse team on Saturday April 25th at Manhasset. In the JV version of the annual Woodstick Classic against Manhasset, the Trojans fell behind early and were never able to catch up, losing 12-4 to the Indians. More ... It was a clear blue sky which greeted the Garden City Third Grade Girls Maroon team in Wantagh for a game against their Wantagh counterparts. This was a tough but well played game that went down to the wire. A goal by Wantagh in the last two minutes of the game, however, was the difference in a 6-5 game. More ... On a beautiful afternoon Monday, the varsity track team celebrated their annual rite of passage for the graduating seniors - Deanna Ceriano, Abby Hepworth, Sarah Leone, Laura Martens and Liz Slattery. The incredible weather brought out larger than usual numbers of baseball fans last Tuesday afternoon at Garden City High School as the Trojans played host to Bethpage. On the mound for Garden City was Jeff Kimball who got the win as the Trojans went on to a 9-1 victory. More ... The Woodstick Classic is the longest running continuous boys high school lacrosse rivalry in the nation that pits the Garden City Trojans against the Manhasset Indians. Garden City has won 11 of the last 12 meetings. 12 of the last 17 contests have been decided by two goals or less, with three of those games going into overtime. The Garden City girls track team left town at 5:30 in the morning last Thursday to compete at the prestigious 115th Penn Relays at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
