      The Garden City High School Music Department will present Green & Gallant Spring, the Women's Chorus, Chamber Choir, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble Spring Concert I, on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school in the Inez Norman Spiers Auditorium.

Second Grade Career Day
      Stratford School students dressed up for Career Day. The second graders in Miss McCavera's class enjoyed thinking about what they wanted to be when they grow up. Many of the students think they will have careers in sports and came in wearing their football and baseball uniforms. Some children hope to be doctors, artists, veterinarians and write children's books.

A Special Day For Teddy Bears At Stratford
      Second graders in Miss Virginia McCavera's class at Stratford School had some extra friends in class for a day. The students enjoyed Teddy Bear Day with a pancake breakfast to begin in morning. Parents cooked a delicious breakfast of pancakes with syrup and honey. Everyone got into the spirit of the day by dressing in their pajamas, robes and slippers.

Spanish Students Win At Poetry Competition
      Garden City High School students in Dr. Christina Failla's Spanish 4R classes and Ms. Marie Nuzzi's Spanish 4H class competed on April 24th in the Hofstra University Concurso Anual de Poesía (Annual Poetry Competition) open to high school students in New York State.

Legends Live At Saint Anne's School
      Carrying on a long tradition, the sixth graders presented their "Living Legends" projects last week to fellow students, parents and friends. The classes work in school for several months on this project. The goal is to teach them how to write a research report from start to finish.

      Councilman Ed Ambrosino was invited to read to students for the Read A Loud Month program. The event was held at the Stratford Ave School located on Stratford Ave, in Garden City.

56th Annual Memorial Day Fair
      Save the date! The 56th Annual Memorial Day Fair and Crafts Fest will be held on Monday, May 25 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. following the Village Parade and the Memorial Services at the Middle School. The Fair is sponsored and held on the grounds of The Cathedral of the Incarnation at 50 Cathedral Avenue. There will be games, rides, refreshments, and a vast assortment of crafts.
