Mother-Daughter Art Show Reception
Margaret and Dianne Fleming are both professional artists from Garden City, but this show was conceived by Dianne to celebrate her mother's story. M. Fleming, a commercial artist and fine painter for over 50 years slowly lost her talent due to tremors in her right hand. 15 years later she regained control with Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. Her art offers proof of successfully conquering this problem, and DBS has also been used to treat those with Parkinson's Disease. Now wearing a pacemaker wired to an electrode in her brain, her daughter has dubbed her "The Bionic Artist".
Margaret graduated Parson's School of Design, belongs to ALNC, & has exhibited her work in numerous galleries. Dianne graduated the Fashion Inst. of Tech, was a fashion designer for 15 years, then invented/patented a unique lightweight backdrop set design for photography and theater which her company is based on. Reception May 3rd, 2-4pm at the East Meadow Public Library. At 1:30, Q&A offered by LIJ/NSHS, refreshments by Medtronic. This show will run throughout May.
