GC Students Partner For Project "R-E-S-P-E-C-T"

2009-04-17 / School

On, Friday, March 27, 2009, leaders from Garden City High School's Students Helping Students (SHS) including (center, left to right) eleventh graders Kelly Keenan and Amanda Sena, and senior Mary Jo Kramer facilitated an in-class program on the topic of respect. The program was presented at both Stewart and Stratford Avenue Elementary Schools to the third grade classes. SHS, led by guidance counselor Natasha Khan, educated the elementary students on the importance of demonstrating respect for others. Using a variety of games, ice breakers and lyrics from Aretha Franklin's version of "R.E.S.P.E.C.T.," the students expanded their understanding of this important topic and learned that "Everyone is somebody"!
