GCHS Intramural Quiz Bowl Winners
      It was a grueling schedule that required physical endurance, mental toughness and the ability to answer questions about everything from chemistry to the board game Monopoly. When the dust cleared, "Team McAuley", comprised of (left to right) Zack Zeno, Donnie Casler, Peter Cohn, and teacher Mr. Scott McCauley, won the title of Intramural Quiz Bowl Champions for 2009.

      Members of the Garden City High School class of 1950 met recently at the home of classmate Diane Webb Prescott in Vero Beach Florida to take the initial steps in planning the 60th class reunion which will take place on Long Island during the Fall of 2010.

Stewart School Math Lesson Aids NY Company
      When Ms. Jane Gilman, fourth grade teacher at the Stewart School, purchased a jar opener marketed by "OXO" in New York City, she noted a problem with the product's directions - the directions read: turn the jar opener in a counter-clockwise direction, but the arrows on the label pointed in a clockwise direction.

Cultural Food Presentation At Stewart School
      On April 6th, Mrs. April Cornachio's fourth grade Spanish students at the Stewart School attended a special cultural presentation focused on their current thematic unit of food study presented by parent Mrs. Patricia Megale. Mrs. Megale, a native of Honduras, spoke to the children about the kinds of foods she ate while growing up in her country.

Stratford Students Amaze At School Science Fair
      Following a 26 year tradition, students at the Stratford School dazzled attendees with their entries at this year's annual Science Fair. Due to the large number of projects being presented, the event took place in the school's cafeteria and gymnasium, filling the rooms from end-to-end.

GC Students Partner For Project "R-E-S-P-E-C-T"
      On, Friday, March 27, 2009, leaders from Garden City High School's Students Helping Students (SHS) including (center, left to right) eleventh graders Kelly Keenan and Amanda Sena, and senior Mary Jo Kramer facilitated an in-class program on the topic of respect. The program was presented at both Stewart and Stratford Avenue Elementary Schools to the third grade classes.
