Live Homework Help

The library subscribes to Tutor.com, an after school homework help center. Children in grades K - 12 (or their parents) can connect with a "live" tutor for expert help in Math, Science, Social Studies and English daily from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In the library, simply click the link on the Library website, enter grade level and subject area and you are connected to an expert! To access the site from home, go to www.gardencitypl.org, enter your library card number when prompted, then follow the easy directions.

Listen to CD Sets

Looking for a new way to share books with your children and improve their early literacy skills? Take a look at one of the Children's Department's CD Sets! Your child can follow along with the text and illustrations while the narrator tells the story. CD sets are a good way to develop listening skills and deepen comprehension of elements like structure and character. Children will also learn how to read with expressiveness and inflection. We have a variety of picture books and early readers available, like Eliot's Park: Haunted Hike by Patrick Carman, John, Paul, George and Ben by Lane Smith, Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin and Fiona's Luck by Teresa Bateman, as well as classic titles and old favorites.

Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
