Garden City High School senior Kristen McGeough, pictured here with guidance counselor Mr. James Malone, will be receiving an award for her poetry submission to the 2009 Nassau County Poet Laureate School Poetry Contest at the April 25th Award Ceremony Festival. This year's poetry awards, which will not be disclosed until the awards ceremony, include gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as honorable mentions. Kristen's work was selected from hundreds of entries submitted to this year's competition. In addition to her award, Kristen's work will be included in Young Voices: An Anthology of Poetry by Nassau County Students.
