Garden City resident Peg D'Angelo was honored as Sacred Heart Academy's "2009 Woman of Heart" at its 60th Anniversary Dinner Dance at the Garden City Hotel on March 20, 2009. A graduate of Sacred Heart, Peg has made a lasting impression on the school and continues to embrace its mission of inclusive love, unity, reconciliation and peace and justice.

Peg is one of Sacred Heart's most supportive alumnae and has worked tirelessly on behalf of the school. Peg is the founding president of the Sacred Heart Alumnae Association, a past president of the Mothers' Guild, and a co-chair of Sacred Heart's One in a Million Campaign. In 2004, Peg was recognized for her tremendous support of Sacred Heart and was inducted into the Alumnae Association's Hall of Fame. As a current member of Sacred Heart's Board of Trustees, Peg sits on the executive committee and chairs both the scholarship and nominating committees. In addition to all she has done for Sacred Heart Academy, Peg is actively involved in St. Anne's Parish in Garden City, St. John's University, St. Francis Hospital, The INN, Habitat for Humanity and Covenant House, among others.
