I certainly hope that Peter Cottontail comes hopping down your Bunny Trail with all kinds of Easter goodies for you and your family to enjoy. It's also nice to see this town's doors all decorated with spring flowers and with bunnies and colored eggs mixed in. Wishes for a good Passover go to those of the Jewish faith also.

The April Fool Silent Auction at the Community Club last week went over very well and there were smiles all around. They were on the faces of those who donated some of the lovely things and were happy to see that they sold and also the smiles on the faces of those who now owned them. Better yet, for the things that did not sell, they were donated to the Yard Sale last Saturday held by the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. What sold there (and they had a very good crowd lined up at the gate at 9 a.m.) went to benefit the Bird Sanctuary and also to HOPE - a group of students at our high school involved in working for a better environment. So you see, one hand is always out to help another. Thanks also to the Suzie Alvey, who worked hard and picked up so many of the donations.

Mary Jean Anderson and Chet Dodge won the prize for the first Small Slam of the evening at the April Fool's Dinner/Bridge at Garden City Country Club. It was truly an April Fool as the Grand Slam was made. Those in attendance were especially delighted with the delicious choices of entrees on the menu and the outstanding desserts. Their compliments to the Chef. Bridge chairlady Muriel Urban announced that the next Dinner/Bridge would be held on Wednesday, May 6th starting with Cocktails and a variety of delicious tid-bits to go with them. Don't forget to make your reservations.

Carol Rudy was honored at the Interbranch Luncheon recently for Branches of the A.A.U.W. I hear that there is going to be an honor coming up for Jane Cox, who is not only a long time member of the Garden City Branch but a very hard worker for the American Association of University Women. Congratulations to both ladies who are among the many who put service first for the benefit of others.

Happy birthday wishes go to Regina Dowling, who will be celebrating her special day on the 17th of April and then on the 19th we have a trio of lovely ladies all blowing out the candles on their individual Birthday cakes, Blanche Muller, Pauline Rudkin, and Betty Pupke and may they all have a great day filled with all the favorite things and a year ahead with nothing but health and happiness.

Then there is the good news and the sorrowful news. The good news is that Pat King is now out of the hospital and is making progress in a Rehabilitation Center in Florida. It is expected that both she and her husband will be late coming back to town this year. Do continue to hold Pat in your prayers.

A former long time resident of Garden City passed away recently in Florida - the Father of Jane O'Connor. He and his wife lived in the Estates Section and raised four sons and two daughters. Our thoughts and prayers are with them now in their time of sorrow.

We recently read of the passing of Joan Anderson, another long time resident of Garden City. A Memorial Service is being planned at the Garden City Community Church and the date will be announced when all is in place.

See you next week! Have a great holiday!
