A Word From The Publisher

Now that spring is here, we are starting to receive a large volume of sports materials. As we have in previous busy seasons, we ask that teams voluntarily reduce the number of photos provided to no more than four or five for ordinary games. While we are happy to put in large photo spreads for special events such as major tournaments, we don't have enough space to give every team a full page every week.

The beginning of spring also means that the budgeting season for the schools and village is virtually done. This year both boards had a difficult time controlling increases in taxes, in large part because of falling revenues because of the global financial downturn.

While no one is entirely happy with the budgets, we hope residents realize that the school and village boards have to both fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities to the taxpayers but also provide services to the children and the residents of the village. It's a difficult balance to strike in any year, and this was tougher than most. We hope the residents express their appreciation for the hard work of board members, even if the results aren't fully to their satisfaction.
