The Garden City Bird Sanctuary and Garden City High School's H.O.P.E. club (Hands On Protecting the Environment) have teamed up to help facilitate recycling in our community. Not only are they helping to reuse and recycle items that would normally become trash, but they are also donating the proceeds to aid an environmental cause. H.O.P.E. club Co-Presidents Danielle Saltiel and Emily Werner said, "100% of the proceeds will go to the World Wildlife Fund and the Sanctuary."

The Benefit Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, April 4th (Rain date Saturday, April 11th) from 9am to 3pm at the GC Bird Sanctuary. Many items have already been donated: including furniture, collectibles, sporting equipment, electronics, housewares, gardening tools, toys, clothing, and more! Come check out these great deals and help to reuse and recycle while supporting a good cause! There's something for everyone, and snacks will be for sale too.

The GCBS entrance gate is located opposite 181 Tanners Pond Road, between Stewart Ave. and Main Ave.

Whether you donate, buy, or both, know that you are making a difference by reusing these items and helping our Bird Sanctuary! (By Michelle Velez)
