THE NASSAU COUNTY Bar Association (NCBA) provides free monthly legal consultation clinics for Nassau County residents 65 or older. Seniors have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an attorney for a half-hour private consultation on any topic of concern. The next Senior Citizen Free Legal Consultation Clinic will be held on Monday, April 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at NCBA, 15th and West streets, Mineola. POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

BETWEEN MARCH 30 and 31, a burglary took place at UPS, Franklin Avenue, and $40 was found missing from a rear drawer...4 Tires were found slashed on a Honda Odyssey parked at a Yale Street residence between March 29 and 30... BETWEEN MARCH 28 and 29, someone broke a toilet in the girls bathroom at Hemlock Park. $200... THE REAR WINDSHIELD of a Hyundai was found broken as the car sat in a Jackson St. driveway between March 27 and 28. $200 damage... ON MARCH 25, 3:19 pm., PO TUOHY, on routine patrol, observed that a car had broken down at Franklin Ave./ Tenth Street. A male was walking back to the scene with gas for the car while one male was lying on his back in the backseat of the car in hiding, while another male was doing the same in the front seat. After a quick determination that the 3 males were in possession of a stolen car-a 39-year-old Merrick man, a 42-year-old Roosevelt man and a 44-year-old Baldwin man were arrested; the latter was also arrested for an active Nassau County bench warrant for the possession of a controlled substance... ON MARCH 27, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., a $60 handbag containing personal papers and credit cards was stolen from a shopping cart at Pay/half, Franklin Avenue... ON THE SAME day, 8:45 p.m., a 27-year-old Roosevelt woman allegedly took a $ 70 pair of Buffalo jeans, a $40 CK tee shirt, 2 tank tops, a $200 BCBG sweater, and a pair of Mabi jeans at Lord and Taylor, Franklin Avenue... PO FLORIO arrested a 53-year-old Levittown man for alleged DWI (.19%)and for a suspended registration after his car rear-ended another car that hit another 2 cars at Old Country Road at Clinton Road on March 27 at 8 p.m. A passenger in his car complained of back pain and the driver of the car he hit, had neck pain; they were both transported to Winthrop Hospital for treatment... BETWEEN MARCH 25 and 26, a $700 7700 Trek men's bicycle was stolen from an open garage at Hamilton Place... BETWEEN MARCH 27 and 28, the driver's side window on a 2005 Chrysler was found damaged at a Stewart Avenue residence... ON MARCH 29, PO Oswald arrested a 23-year-old Long Beach woman whose car jumped a curb at Clinton Road, just after she made a turn from Stewart Avenue. She was charged with alleged DWI (.11%), unsafe lane change, no passing, and no insurance... ON MARCH 20, 8:30 p.m., a 54-year-old Queens Village woman allegedly took a $50 L&T ring at Lord and Taylor and she was arrested... ON MARCH 24,11:07 p.m., detectives, arrested a 20-year-old Spring Valley NY man for the possession of marijuana at South Avenue... ON MARCH 25, a truck stop was conducted at Clinton Rd., and 13 trucks were inspected with 79 tickets issued, 10 trucks taken out of service; 2 for overweight... ON MARCH 26,1:24 a.m., a GC firefighter went to a fire call in fire truck 141 and someone driving a red car evidently threw what appeared to be a water balloon, shattering a driver's side window on the truck... ON MARCH 31, just past 7 p.m., an 89-year-old Asian woman who was disoriented and who could not speak English, was wandering near Rockaway Avenue at Old Country Rd. Police arrived and luckily a passerby, who spoke Chinese, was able to find out where she lived. The woman was listed as missing from an area near the Second Precinct, and a short time later she was reunited with her son from Syosset... ON MARCH 30, police responded to a GC residence where a 3-year-old was reported missing, however, police were able to find the child who had been hiding...

FIRE RESPONSES:

ON MARCH 26, a light pole was giving off smoke at 117 Franklin Avenue and the FD used a booster... ON MARCH 27, firemen extinguished a car fire at Arthur Street. The owner of the car claimed that the car had been fixed just 2 weeks before... FIREMEN USED a Slim Jim to open a locked car at 575 Stewart Avenue on March 28... A Faulty Kitchen appliance caused alarm at a Wellington Road house on March 29...
