"Not My Child"
The Nassau County District Attorney's Office Narcotics and Gangs Bureau will present a program on heroin on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 7:30 PM in the Library at Garden City High School.
Nassau County is seeing a resurgence in the lethal drug, heroin. It has become a major concern for our youth, and is especially prevalent in middle and upper-middle class communities. Heroin is inexpensive and easily accessible to our teens, and the statistics on deaths from overdose are escalating.
The PTA and Garden City Community Council on Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention invite you to attend the presentation, "Not My Child". Chief Teresa Corrigan and her team from the Nassau County District Attorney's Office Narcotics and Gangs Bureau, will present on the emerging heroin problem, provide education on the signs and triggers of heroin addiction, the link between student athletes and heroin addiction, and when and where to get help.
183 youth have died of heroin overdose. Come learn how this drug is getting to our youth, what our responsibilities and liabilities are, and how we can fight it.
We encourage all adult members of the community to attend this dynamic and important presentation. "Not My Child" is scheduled for Monday
