A Spanish Fashion Show
      Seventh grade students in Senora Porter's Spanish classes at Garden City Middle School recently put on a fashion show. This activity was the culmination of their three week study of clothing and colors in Spanish. Students were told to invent an identity for their model. They then had to think of an interesting outfit to model for the class.

Key Club / Interact Collects Clothing
      The Garden City High School's Key/Interact Club has been incredibly successful in collecting clothes for the Mary Brennan INN. The Mary Brennan INN, a soup kitchen located in Hempstead, serves lunch to over 400 people a day five days a week.

Community Church PlaySchool Registration Begins
      The Garden City Community Church's PlaySchool program offers the opportunity for 2 year olds to have a positive first "school" experience shared with a parent or caregiver. PlaySchool offers gradual and optional separation in the second half of the year. The children enjoy playtime, teacher directed art projects, storytime, songs and fingerplays, snack and outdoor play.

Named To Honor Roll
      William Chu , a fifth form student at Kent School in Kent, Connecticut, was named to the Honor Roll for the Fall Term of 2008-2009. William is the son of Howard Chu of Garden City. Kent School is an independent boarding school located in the northwestern corner of Connecticut.

St. Joseph Celebrates St. Patrick
      Every student was a wee bit Irish last Sunday as they marched in the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. The cold skies and threat of the blizzard couldn't keep the school families and spectators away from the treat of the pipes and drums and the fabulous post parade party, chaired by Meg McCartney. Thanks to Elizabeth Doctor for once again arranging the treat of the Donny Golden dancers!

Garden City Primary Schools Celebrate 100 Days
      Did you know what very special day occurred on Thursday, February 12th? Why, the 100th day of school, of course! Kindergartners and first graders at Locust, Hemlock and Homestead Schools marked their 100th day of school with dozens of special learning activities.
