On December 2, 2009, Garden City held the St. Paul's Opinion Poll. The voter turnout was tremendous, over 5,000 residents attended at a rate of 600 per hour. The Garden City Special Police was assigned traffic control at St. Paul's. Quick action was taken by SPO Dave Bliss, SPO Bob Anderson, and Lt. Steve Browand, to handle the large flow of voters. During their five hour duty, these officers facilitated the movement of over 2,000 vehicles while managing the traffic flow on Stewart Avenue. Law and Order Night which was held on February 18, 2008 at the Bradford Turner Post honored these three officers for their swift response. Pictured above from left to right are; Captain Dave Carpentier, SPO Dave Bliss, SPO Bob Anderson, and Commander of the Bradford Turner Post, John Donovan. Not pictured, Lt. Steve Browand. The residents of Garden City are indeed fortunate to be served by a devoted police force. It is in this spirit that residents volunteer to serve our community by joining the Garden City Special Police. (By: SPO John Koch)
