On December 2, 2009, Garden City held the St. Paul's Opinion Poll. The voter turnout was tremendous, over 5,000 residents attended at a rate of 600 per hour. The Garden City Special Police was assigned traffic control at St. Paul's. Quick action was taken by SPO Dave Bliss, SPO Bob Anderson, and Lt. Steve Browand, to handle the large flow of voters. Seventh grade students in Senora Porter's Spanish classes at Garden City Middle School recently put on a fashion show. This activity was the culmination of their three week study of clothing and colors in Spanish. Students were told to invent an identity for their model. In light of the prevailing gloom in the country right now, the arrival of St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17 will come none too soon. We truly need something to celebrate. I will admit to a little bias about this holiday.
