The Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) has just added a link from its website "Favorite Links" page to The Garden City Bird Sanctuary. All Village residents are invited to log onto "www.gcwpoa.com" to connect to the Bird Sanctuary and read about this 9-acre community nature preserve, which is located in the Western Section of Garden City. The main entrance is opposite 181 Tanners Pond Road. The Bird Sanctuary has just opened for the season. It's a great place to bring the family for a quiet walk and to observe nature. There's no entrance fee.

Join the WPOA Board of Directors

The deadline for residents of the West to apply for positions as Officers (one-year term) and Directors (two-year term) is Monday, March 23, 2009. Any resident who is interested in joining the WPOA Board of Directors is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to: Mr. Tom Whalen, WPOA Secretary, 41 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530.

The Western Section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere Roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street.

2009 Membership Drive

The WPOA is currently conducting its 2009 membership drive. The annual dues payment is $20. Residents can log onto the WPOA website, www.gcwpoa.com, and print out the membership form right from the homepage. The membership form link can also be found on the "Contact" page. Please mail the form and a check to the WPOA P.O. Box.

The WPOA's next general meeting will be Wednesday, April 22, at 8 p.m. in Homestead School. Residents can now read the minutes of recent meetings on the WPOA website's "Communications" page. And while you're on the site, please check out the "Calendar" for important upcoming dates.
