On Thursday, February 5th, the fifth in a series of monthly workshops for Garden City Public Schools first year teachers took place. Dr. Bruce Torff (seated in center), a noted professor of education at Hofstra University, presented the workshop on the topic of Differentiated Instruction. The workshop focused on various strategies that teachers across all grade levels can utilize to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students.

In addition to this presentation, the following topics have or will be explored during new teacher staff development: effective communication strategies, lesson planning and classroom assessment strategies, classroom management, effective questioning techniques, special education strategies for the classroom, integrating instructional technology, and lesson studies.
