James C. McDonagh

James C. McDonagh 65, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009. A former resident of Garden City, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jim had lived in Ft. Myers for the past three years. He was born August 18, 1943 in England a son of the late James Gerard and Ellen (nee Lay) McDonagh. He was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Community and a proud 4th degree member of Our Lady of the Rosary Assembly # 2542 and Our Lady of Light Knights of Columbus Council # 10498. Jim was also a state officer with the Knights of Columbus serving in the office of New Council Development. He worked for 20 years with Ravenscroft Shipping in Coconut Grove, FL retiring 5 years ago. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia McDonagh of Ft. Myers, FL; two sons, James P. McDonagh of Ft. Myers, FL and Brian G. McDonagh of Estero, FL; one daughter and her husband, Maureen and Victor Fernandez of Estero, FL; one brother, John (Claire) McDonagh; one sister, Mary McDonagh all of Brooklyn, NY and one granddaughter, Grace Watters. The family received friends Friday, February 27, 2009 at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home 28300 Tamiami Tr. So. Bonita Springs. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community. In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Harding

On March 2, 2009 Mary Harding a long time resident of Garden City passed away at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Mary was the loving wife of Philip and mother of Philip Jr., Kristen, and David. She was a loving grandmother to Mary Amelia, Joseph Jr., and Annabelle Walsh. She welcomed her new family of son and daughter in laws Joseph Walsh, Christine and Emily Harding.

During her life in Garden City, Mary was proud to provide exercise programs through Fitness Breaks of Garden City. For those who attended and knew Mary as a friend, they will always have a small place in their hearts of goodness and loyalty to them. So remember her by doing something kind for someone in her honor.
