Breast Cancer Fund To Benefit
For the ninth year, Hicks Nurseries in Westbury is raising money for the Meghanís Pansies Breast Cancer Fund. Until the end of April, for each specially marked pansy nine-pack that is sold, 15¢ will be donated to the fund.
Meghan's Pansies, which is administered by the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, educates young women and men about breast cancer. The family of Meghan Halloran, a Garden City woman who succumbed to breast cancer at age 31, established the fund. Meghan's father, Larry Kenny, is an employee of the nursery and pansies were her favorite flower.
Hicks Nurseries, Long Island's oldest garden nursery (established by the Hicks family in 1853), is located at 100 Jericho Turnpike in Westbury; 516-334-0066; The nursery is handicap accessible throughout.
