      Brandon Saldana , a senior at Chaminade High School has been admitted via early decision as a member of the Class of 2013 of Amherst College where he will major in Economics. He was ranked in top 10% of his class, a member of the National Honor Society, Honor Roll, carrying at 96.7 average, National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) Scholar.

      Emily Hepworth, daughter of Judith and Michael Hepworth, is a recipient of the dean's award for academic excellence during the fall 2008 semester at Colgate University, where she is a member of the class of 2011. to be eligible for the dean's award, a Colgate student must achieve a 3.30 or higher average while carrying a full course load of four courses per semester.

Buckley Student Wins Competition
      Buckley Country Day School fifth grader George Olvany of Garden City won 5th place in the national InvestWrite essay competition and 1st place in the Long Island regional competition. George's essay was selected form over 20,000 entries submitted by middle school students in the sixth through eighth grades throughout the country!

Student Accepted Into Leadership Program
      Liam Coles, a student at St. Anne's School, has been accepted into the People to People World Leadership Forum. Coles will join a select group of students in Washington, D.C., April 13-19, 2009 to study leadership and explore some of the United States' most prominent monuments and institutions.

Nursery School Summer Program Registration Begins
      As winter comes to an end, it's hard to believe that it is time to think ahead to summertime fun for the kids. Once again, Garden City Nursery School will open its very popular Summer Program to the community. Registration begins March 1st.

      Garden City High School French III, Biology and Computer Graphics students recently joined forces to create cheese products, completing everything involved in the process from making the cheese to fermentation to product packaging.

      For the twelfth year in a row, students from Garden City High School participated in the Mentoring Partnership of Long Island's Groundhog Shadow Day. This day provided an opportunity for high school sophomores to observe and share the daily responsibilities of an employee working in a career of interest to the student.
