Women's Choir Festival Concert

The 2009 Long Island Women's Choir Festival Concert will take place on Wednesday evening , March 4th at Cathedral of The Incarnation, Garden City NY. Two of the area's finest public school women's ensembles will join with the Meredith College Chorale for a day-long festival, culminating in the 8:00 PM performance at the Cathedral.

The 23 voice Meredith Chorale is the premiere choral ensemble at Meredith College, the largest private women's college in the Southeast. This performance is part of an eight-day east coast tour that will include public school, university, and worship venues in Virginia, Maryland, and New York. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Kevin Badanes, graduate of SUNY at Stony Brook, who serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Meredith. This is Badanes' second appearance at the Cathedral, having performing in 1997 as director of the Long Island Chamber Singers.

Robert Ludwig, former organist at the Cathedral, and director of the choral program at Garden City High School will be directing one of the women's choirs, and will serve as organist for music performed by the combined ensemble. Adam Paltrowitz is the director of choirs at POBJFK high school in Plainview, and will be directing his group in the concert as well.
