ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28 , a concert for the benefit of the Mary Brennan Inn will be performed by Hope Hudson, soprano and Richard Pearson Thomas, composer/pianist at the Garden City Community Church, 245 Stewart Ave. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and feature some of classical and sacred music's best loved songs . Suggested donation is $10 and a nonperishable food item... POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

ON FEBRUARY 23 , PO Touhy arrested an 18-year-old Baldwin male for allegedly stealing over $398 in merchandise at Lord and Taylor, Franklin Avenue. A Polo jacket, 2 Polo belts, Calvin Klein jeans, and a $75 Paul Leinburd hat were taken... BETWEEN FEBRUARY 19 and 20, someone damaged a mirror and door on a 2007 Mercedes Benz parked at Meadow Street. Damage was $2500...Someone broke a window at the Waldorf School between February 13 and 20. $100 damage... ON FEBRUARY 20 , a male thief took several pregnancy kits valued at $ 561 from CVS, Franklin Avenue... On February 22, 3:40 a.m., a 31-year-old Uniondale man was arrested for alleged DWI (.15%) at Meadow St./Clinton Rd. He was also charged with the failure to maintain a lane and for a registration display violation. PO Wehr made the arrest... Someone took tires and rims from a 2006 Honda parked at Yale Street... ON FEBRUARY 17 , 5:30 p.m., 5 males exited Starbucks near Field 7S and a 14-year-old West Hempstead male claimed that one kid had thrown a brick at him causing a laceration to his thumb. The incident is under investigation... ON FEBRUARY 19, PO Buonaiuto arrested a 17-year-old Garden City male for the possession of marijuana on February 14 near the GC High School at Brompton Road... ALSO THAT DAY , someone took a 2004 Subaru valued at $15,000 from Field 11, between 3 p.m. and 4:10 p.m... BETWEEN FEBRUARY 17 and 18, there were larcenies from cars. At Pell Terrace, $10 in change was stolen from one unlocked car and a Garmin was taken from another unlocked car there. At Claydon Road, an iPod Nano and a purple Shuffle were taken from another unlocked car there...On Russell Road, between February 19 and 20, an iPod was taken from an unlocked Volvo and at Wetherill Road, there was damage to a side mirror on a Volvo and a rear wiper on a Mercedes Benz...

ON FEBRUARY 23 , 6:30 p.m., a taxi driver picked up a passenger, a 28-year-old Hempstead woman, who asked to be taken to County Seat Drive. Upon the cab's arrival, she then disputed the fare and attempted to exit the cab while it was still moving. The driver responded by locking doors for her safety and the woman jumped over the seat in the cab and began punching and choking him. He lost control of the cab and it mounted the curb, eventually hitting the building at 200 County Seat Drive. Fortunately, no one was hurt but the woman was arrested for reckless endangerment 2nd degree-for creating a risk of serious physical injury to the driver and to people around the building...

FIRE RESPONSES:

ON FEBRUARY 19 , emergency responders called for an ambulance to Winthrop Hospital after a Dover Avenue occupant let them enter the house... The FD removed a victim who had been trapped in an elevator at 1550 Franklin Avenue... YOUTHS STARTED a fire in a fireplace in the backyard of a Chestnut Street house and a neighbor reported it on February 21. Police followed up with a report...
