The JrNBA Skills Challenge for BOYS is scheduled for Thursday February 5th 6pm at St Paul's. The JrWNBA Skills Challenge for GIRLS is scheduled for Thursday February 12th 6pm at St Paul's. For both boys and girls; 9-10 year olds should arrive at 6pm, 11-12 year olds about 6:30pm, and 13-14 year olds about 7pm.

Garden City Basketball is honored once again to be selected to host a JrNBA/JrWNBA Skills Challenge sponsored by SINGULAIR. This great FREE event is open to everyone 9-14 years of age... including non-participants in our program. Last year we had numerous contestants receive regional and national honors. Please email jskramko@optonline.net with subject "Jr NBA Skills Challenge" to indicate your interest in this event and to be placed on the notification/participation list (registrations will be accepted at the door). In your email please include your childs name, age (as of May 2008), address, email, and phone number. The Skills Challenge is a grassroots event that is an opportunity for kids to showcase their excellence in the core basketball skills of shooting, dribbling and passing. The Skills Challenge is also intended to encourage youth participation in sport while promoting sportsmanship.

Last year a number of our contestants were fortunate to advance to the regionals. Two of our representatives won the NY Regional ! The regional this season is expected to be on the court at Madison Square Garden in early April.

As a proud member of the JrNBA and JrWNBA, we suggest you select the JrNBA logo on our website for information about the Skills Challenge, NBA Cares, free camps, and pledge to be a S.T.A.R. (sportsmanship, teamwork, attitude, & respect). Check out the links for Coaches, Players, and Parents. Each link will lead you to an awesome guide that provides valuable basketball information that everyone should read.

We believe that Garden City Basketball has the vision, dedication, and sets the standard for youth basketball in the village of Garden City.

We look forward to you and your child being a part of our program. If there are any questions, please contact John Skramko at jskramko@optonline.net or 746-9659.
