Exhibit "Winter Membership Show"

The L.I. Branch of the National League of American Pen Women will display a mixed media exhibit "Winter Membership Show" showcased from February 1-28, 2009 at the Garden City Public Library.

Exhibits are FREE and open to the public during regular library hours.

The National League of American Pen Women, Inc. founded in 1897, is an organization of professional women artists, writers, composers, photographers and lecturers. National Headquarters is in the league-owned Pen-Arts building in Washington, D.C. Its membership of more than 6,000 women is divided among more than 220 branches throughout the USA. Their goals are to promote literacy, provide educational and charitable activities in the field of Arts, Letters & Music, and to encourage the production of creative work in these fields. They provide scholarships, award certificates of proficiency and bi-annual awards. Their publication is "The Pen Women." "The long Island Branch has 48 members. Artists use a variety of materials and work in many different styles and mediums.

"LINCOLN & THE

GETTYSBURG ADDRESS"

The Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden City Chapter, Colonel Aaron Ogden will exhibit "Lincoln & The Gettysburg Address" showcased from February 1 to 27 at the Garden City Public Library. The display celebrates the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln who was born on February 12, 1809.
