Dinner With President Thomas Jefferson
In celebration of Presidents Day, The Garden City Public Library is hosting the informative and delicious program "Dinner with President Thomas Jefferson". At this program, the attendees will learn about the food interests of Thomas Jefferson. President Jefferson was a leader in food technology during his time. Jefferson introduced the work of French chefs into his home even before he lived in France. He imported olive oil from Italy, mustard from France, and grew grapes on his farm for wine. This pioneering president introduced macaroni to the United States and even owned the first ice cream freezer. Chef Barbara Sheridan will treat us to a demonstration of foods that Mr. Jefferson may have served at his home for entertaining. Afterwards, participants are invited to join Chef Barbara for a taste of the many dishes that she prepared. This program is Wednesday, February 4th at 2:00 PM and is for adult Garden City residents only. Registration will begin on Sunday, January 25th and must be done in person.
