Doorbuster Dollar Days
      This coming Tuesday and Wednesday, February 3 and 4, the Cathedral of the Incarnation's Nearly New Shop is having its annual Dollar Days clearance sales. The Nearly New Shop has clothing for children and adults that is gently used or never worn. Some items still have the store sales tags still on them. Every item in the shop will be priced at $1.

      Douglas J. Baralo, son of Lorraine and Emil T. Baralo of Tremont Street was admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland. The ceremony was held on December 16, 2008 at the Maryland Court of Appeals in Annapolis. Doug graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in May 2008 and completed the Bar Exam in July.

Community Theatre Group Performs For Seniors
      On Sunday, January 4th, approximately 20 cast members from the 2008 Garden City Community Theatre spring musical That's Amore, reunited to perform a selection of songs at the Bristal Home in East Meadow. Cast members of all ages "Delivered Love" singing 11 of the songs from last year's original musical production and received a very warm reception from an audience of about 40 residents.

      The Garden City Public Library partners with several community agencies to assist with services that benefit the public in Garden City as well as throughout Long Island. The Library is now a collection site for used eyeglasses, which are collected through the Recycle for Sight Program run by a local Lions Club.

      Our Senior walking group has become so popular that we are adding a day! Our group will now meet at Cluett Hall at 2:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday and walk for at least 20 minutes. Felicia will moderate this program, which will take place rain or shine! Dress for the elements but if it rains or is too cold, we will walk indoors. No registration is needed- come and join us!

Resident Elected To Hall Of Fame
      Sharon Hummers, a resident of Garden City, has been elected to the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by the Board of Directors of the American Platform Tennis Association, the sport's governing body. Also elected is her partner, Winnie Hatch, who resides in Bridgehampton, Long Island. They are the 74rd and 75th individuals earning this highest honor in the sport.
