William Blake
William Conway Blake of Peconic, NY, formerly of Garden City, and Jupiter, FL, died Jan. 17, 2009 at his home.
Born Jan.28, 1923 in Syracuse, NY to George Francis and Margret Ester Conway Blake.
He attended grammar school in Sheboygan, WI. He went on to attend Garden City High School, St. Norbert's Academy, and the University of Notre Dame before enlisting in the U.S. Army Signal Corps serving at 2nd Army Hdqtrs. in Memphis, TN as a Sgt. Following WWII, he joined the manufacturers representative firm of Blake & Conroy. He retired in 1976. He resided in Garden City, summered in Peconic, NY, and wintered in Jupiter, FL. He belonged to the North Fork Country Club for almost 50 yrs and volunteered at Eastern Long Island Hospital emergency room for 25 years. He was an avid sportsman and bridge player.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia DeHaven Lantz; daughters Pamela Kelly (John) of Garden City, Nancy Smith (Ken) of Wilmington, NC, and Elizabeth Backhaus (Rob) of Scarborough, ME; son Geoffrey Blake (Leah) of Roanoke, VA. Mr. Blake was pre-deceased by his son William "Buzz" C. Blake, Jr.
Mr. Blake was a grandfather to Kate and Garrett Gleeson, Kara Kelly; Megan Reed, Colin and Kevin Smith; Julianne, Madeline and John Blake; Erik, Nicole and Shannon Backhaus.
He was the great-grandfather to Ryan and Molly Reed.
Arrangements are through DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home, Southold, NY. Visitation will be Fri., Jan. 23rd 2 to 4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service is Sat., Jan.24th at 10am, St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Southold with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Southold.

Florence Bosch
Florence Bosch, passed away on January 17 th, 2009 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Walter C., Devoted mother of Barbara (Ged) Young and Steven John Bosch. Cherished grandmother of Alex Young. Loving sister of Dorothy Tessier, and Edward Corr. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. A Funeral mass was held January 21, 2009 at St. Anne's RC Church. Interment All Faith's Cemetery. The family was cared for by Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Floral Park.
William T. Hunt
William T. Hunt passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 in Scottsdale, Arizona after a long battle with cancer. He was born on May 1,1925 in the Bronx, New York and was a resident of Garden City for 44 years.
Bill attended All Hallows High School, followed by 3 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning home he enrolled at Fordham University where he received his Bachelors Degree. He then joined Hearst Corporation as an advertising sales representative and made his way up the ladder spending 30 years with Cosmopolitan Magazine. He left Cosmo as Advertising Sales Director to become Assistant Publisher of Good Housekeeping Magazine where he spent 5 years and retired. He then decided to go back to work and ran the advertising department for The Long Island Catholic in Rockville Center for 5 more years.
Bill is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Lisa, and grandson Bryan. He is also survived by his brother Eugene, his sister Connie, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers we ask that all donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, his favorite charity. There will be a mass held at St. Joseph's Church in Garden City, on Monday January 26, 2009 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Calverton Cemetery.
