Miss Jaegers, Student Council moderator, instructing the 6 - 8th grade students as to how to sign the banner "You may just start a chain reaction." St. Joseph School, spearheaded by their Student Council, teamed up with other local Catholic grade schools in hopes of living up to the motto of this organization started to honor Rachel Scott. Miss Scott was the first victim of the Columbine High School massacre on April 20, 1999. Almost ten years later, her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for some of the most life-changing school programs in America. The faculty and students of St. Brigid School in Westbury were the kind hosts to area schools for a morning seminar. Selected 'school ambassadors' returned after lunch for more information and parents were invited to a special presentation in the evening. Each school now displays a banner with the signatures of all students accepting Rachel's challenge to start a chain reaction of kindness.
