Chamber Announces Holiday Shop Window Winners

S.L. Enterprises The Garden City Chamber of Commerce announces the 11 shop windows judged to be the most beautifully decorated in the central business district for the 2008 Holiday Season. Additionally, one window was named the "Toast of the Town" (best over all) and one winner was recognized on New Hyde Park Road. Named "Toast of the Town" was Feldis Florist. The ten top winners were" Annastasia Salon, Coach Realty, Dr. Chet Fichandler, Optometrist, Garden City Pizza, The Pear Tree, Salon Imperiale/Carmine's Haircutters, SL Enterprises, Town Meat Market, West & Stannish Opticians and Walk Street. Reflection Jewelers was judged the best on New Hyde Park Road.

Windows are judged for the most holiday spirit, creativity and originality. However, "walk-by, drive-by" visual impact is the bottom line. While not part of the window competition (mostly for lack of windows), it was noted that many of the Village's restaurants had magnificent displays of greenery and lights particularly Leo's, Seventh Street Cafe and Uptown Grille. Walk Street, one of the top ten, won for its window. All made Garden City more inviting for holiday shopping. Winners will be awarded with framed display certificates.
