Registration began Saturday, December 27th for the YA program, Mexican Cooking For Teens. The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 3:30 PM. At this program, instructor Sue Bazzicalupo will demonstrate and help teens prepare 3 different Mexican treats. The group is limited to the first 25 registrants. Ole!

YAK & SNACK BOOK DISCUSSION

Registration also began Saturday, December 27th for Yak & Snack to be held on Saturday, January 24th at 3 PM. The book to be discussed, Cheater by Michael Laser, will be available at registration. Cheater is the story of a network of cheating that exists in high school using cell phones. Karl is a brilliant student who gets suckered into the scheme. How did this happen? Who's to blame? What is right? Read the book, think about Karl's dilemma, and come talk it over with peers and the YA librarian. While you are here, enjoy some fabulous snacks. We hope to have the author on speaker phone to give his thoughts and answer your questions.

'TWEENS & TEENS MOVIE NIGHT

Registration began Monday, January 5th for 'Tweens & Teens Movie night to be held on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 19th at 6:45 PM. The comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off starring Matthew Broderick will be shown and refreshments will be served. Students in grades 6 - 12 are invited to come to watch this movie, which chronicles the events of a rather magical 17- year-old, who has an overwhelming urge to cut school one spring day had head for downtown Chicago with his girl and best friend.

DISCOVER THE YA COMPUTER CENTER

Use the printing coupons won at the Back to School Bash at the new YA Computer Center which is up and running. The newly renovated Young Adult Room houses a Computer Center exclusive for those patrons in Grades 6-12. There are four computers at the west end of the YA Room as well as a laser printer and a sign up station for reserving the next available computer when all are in use. These computers are available during normal library hours unless no one is available to supervise. Using this computer will insure company of peers only. Each machine is equipped with Internet Explorer (always filtered), PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. YA's who need Excel may use it in the Adult Computer Center on the Lower Level. As in the Adult Computer Center, there is a 3 hour limit for use per day, and a limit to 5 pages of free printing. Additional printing needs can be purchased or credited with Summer Reading Club certificates at the Circulation Desk for 5 cents per page.
