Winterfest At Bird Sanctuary January 9
The Garden City Bird Sanctuary extends an invitation to the community to stop over at the Bird Sanctuary to share Winterfest. "Winterfest" will be held on Saturday January 10th 2009 from 4-5 pm at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary opposite 181 Tanners Pond Road. There will be some warm coco and bulb plantings culminating in a candle-lighting ceremony that will celebrate and recognize the gifts in all our supporters. The first of a series of holiday evergreen trees will also be dedicated, and you'll have a chance to hang a bird feeder and decorations for our wildlife friends. Bring a candle or some birdseed if you'd like.
The winter is a gloomy time. It is cold, the days are short, the nights are long and nature sleeps in the seeming throes of death. Many people get depressed in winter; especially after the December holidays are behind us. Winterfest will remind us that there is reason to have hope for the future because there are many people of good will who care about the planet, families, and the next generation. Winterfest is a yearly celebration of the spirit of volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and hope that represents the some of the best qualities in all people. It also reminds us "all winters must come to an end." The event is free!!!
