The Garden City East 10-Member Nominating Committee will be nominating Dennis Donnelly as its candidate for Village Trustee and Laura Brown as its candidate for School Board Trustee at the Resident Electors' meeting to be held on January 20, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at the Garden City Library. A resident elector of the east is any resident who lives in the eastern section of the Village east of the center of Franklin Avenue.

Should any resident elector wish to place in nomination any other candidate or candidates, that resident elector need only present a petition bearing the proposed candidate's name and signed by 15 resident electors (including addresses) of the East at the Jan. 20 meeting. Should that happen, a run-off election will be held in February and the winner of that election will become the Community Agreement's candidate in the village election, to be held in March.

If no additional nominations by petition are received at the Jan. 20 Resident Electors' meeting, nominations will be closed and the secretary of the EPOA shall cast one vote on behalf of the Resident Electors of the East for the candidates nominated.

Immediately following the Resident Electors' meeting, the Eastern Property Owners' Association (EPOA) will conduct its general meeting with presentations from Village officials. Residents of the East are urged to attend and hear updates on important village issues.
