Trojans JV Football Rolls to 52nd Consecutive Win

The last time that Garden City's JV football team lost a game, many of it's current players were in 2nd grade. That was back on November 10, 2001 against the Hewlett Bulldogs. Since then the Trojans have won 52 consecutive games, including their latest 50-0 win over Jericho last Saturday. Garden City has averaged 40 points a game and has a defense that has given up only 49 points and an offense that has produced 160 points in their first five games this season.

There were seven touchdowns scored against Jericho, including TD runs by Brendan Adams and Eugene Berkery. Mike Comiskey did an outstanding job coming in for Tom Adams at quarterback. Chris Harder and Christian Morreale each ran the ball well. Helping to enable the running game was an offensive line including John Karikas, Peter Cline, Mike Gilbert, Matt Slovensky, and Brendan Logan. Receivers Andrew Connors, Liam Kennedy and Tom O'Brien also contributed including an interception by O'Brien that he returned for a touchdown.

You don't have a shutout without exceptional defense and helping to preserve the shutout was John Mixon with two sacks. Defensive tackles Scott Ernenwein and Kevin Gallant played tenacious defense as well. Pressure on the Jericho QB by Scott Conetta helped lead to O'Brien's interception and subsequent TD.

Special teams did their job, including Ryan Norton who was perfect with kicking the extra points.

The team will try and continue their winning streak as they travel to Hewlett on Saturday October 11th for a 9:30 am game.
