Annual Fall Fair At The Waldorf School
"The Fall Fair is great fun for children and an excellent way to learn about our school," said Marion Flomenhaft, Co-Chair of Waldorf's Parent Association. Throughout the day, a host of children's activities - from pumpkin painting, sand art and games to puppet shows and children's crafts - provides wholesome, family-oriented fun. Visitors can grab a burger at the Outdoor Grill, enjoy hearty soups in the Country Kitchen or indulge in a sumptuous sweet dessert at the French Café. The official Grand Opening of the School's newly expanded Library will take place at 11:00 a.m. Renamed The Miller Library - in honor of Capital Campaign Chairman John Miller and his wife and Waldorf trustee, Kristin Miller - this newly renovated space will serve as a warm community center that will nurture the imaginations of young children while meeting the technological and resource needs of the School's students and faculty. Like many of the bazaars and fairs that take place between now and Christmas, Waldorf's Fall Fair - which is organized by the school's Parent Association - is a good place to shop for unique gifts in preparation for the holiday season. The event features dozens of vendors selling a range of quality, handcrafted clothing and artwork as well as items made from natural materials, such as wooden toys, homespun wool items, homemade natural soaps and lotions. Throughout the day, visitors can purchase a raffle for the chance to win one of many raffle prizes including a "Shopping Bag" filled with gift cards and valued over $1,500. Located along Cambridge Avenue, adjacent to the Adelphi University campus, the Waldorf School of Garden City is a college preparatory day school teaching early childhood through Grade 12. For more information about the school, please call (516) 742-3434 ext. 129. The school will also host a series of High School Open Class Days to the public on Tuesday, October 21st and Tuesday, October 28th from 8:00 am to 10:30 am.
