Child Advocate To Speak

Jessie Rock

As part of the Sunday Forum Series at the Garden City Community Church, Jessie Rock will introduce us to the "Every Child Matters - Long Island Campaign." This is a non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to make children a national priority. The forum will be held on Sunday, October 5, at 9:15 a.m.

Jessie is a life-long child advocate, and has been involved in the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington and the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and African American Studies. She also has a Masters degree in Sociology & Demography from Fordham University.

The Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ and is an Open & Affirming congregation. Worship services are on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with church school for children and a crib room for infants and toddlers during the later service.
