On Saturday, September 20 th the Garden City Power Girls Soccer team played an awesome game against the first place Glen Cove Rising Stars! The field was filled with ambitious players who were determined to win right from the start. The Power demonstrated great skill by taking the Rising Stars with careful position playing. The Garden City Power has been working on developing a strong offense with careful passing and on Saturday it clearly showed. In addition, the Power continues building a tighter cohesiveness and team spirit as their team has changed this year with several new players on board. The support of friends and family made this home game extra special. The offense was strong and accurate, keeping the ball moving at a fast pace. Right from the start, the girls worked together and scored the first goal in the first five minutes of the game. There was no stopping the Power offense as they demonstrated great skill, moving the ball down into the Stars defensive zone and scoring another three goals. The fans cheered and the Power momentum continued. Late in the second half the Rising Stars began getting a bit more aggressive. There was nothing that the Power defense couldn't handle. A few attempts were made by the Rising Stars to score but our defense was deep and they carefully protected their goal with some awesome plays by the goalie and the defensive players. With just a few minutes left in the game, the Power was ahead 4 to 1 and the Rising Stars with a last minute attempt kicked the ball to the goal and our defense beautifully sent it down the field, leaving them no chance to score. The whistle blew and the Power took the game 4 to 1. The Power has started the season in full force with one win, two ties and no loses. Each Saturday the Power continues to hold true to their name power!!!! Great game, girls!!!
