The U10 girls Shooting Stars have gotten off to a tremendous start in the first year together by shutting out both opponents along with tremendous offensive teamwork in both victories.

This week the Stars took on a tough Oceanside team and got their second victory, 2-0.

A supreme defensive effort was the main reason for the victory! The defensive unit of Hannah Ardito, Dominique Dragato, Caroline Munn and Caitlin Etienne were tremendous. Caroline was phenomenal with her big clear out kicks while Hannah, Caitlin and Dominque consistently made defensive tackles and cleared the ball out to their strikers.

Bridget Shea dominated in goal for the first half and Catherine Lori anchored the defense in the net for the second half. Both Bridget and Catherine helped spur offensive attacks with great clearing punt kicks.

On the offensive end, the passing and attacking of the goal was phenomenal! The first goal was scored by Eileen Farrell after receiving an upfield clearing pass from Caitlin Ettiene. Eileen scored on a rocket to the corner of the goal to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

The second goal of the game came on a superb soccer play. Julia Foxen took the ball down the left sideline and put a perfect crossing pass in front of the goal. Annie Crowley was in perfect position on the right wing and put the Shooting Stars ahead 2-0 with a smooth finesse kick into the corner. All day long, the Shooting Stars offense worked seamlessly downfield with precision passing, firing shot after shot on goal. Only a tremendous effort by the Oceanside goalkeeper prevented the hard charging Merideth Aneser, Elizabeth McKay, Catherine Lori and Bridget Shea from putting up a big number on the scoreboard. This offense will be hard to stop if they play like this week after week.

The Shooting Stars will look to continue there winning ways again next week against a very tough Albertson team. Good luck Shooting Stars!
