Artwork On Display At Adelphi

Adelphi University will feature artwork by artist Patti Hirsch in a solo exhibition, "Things With Wings" at the Manhattan Center Gallery, 75 Varick Street, New York, NY, from Thursday, September 25, 2008 to Wednesday, March 18. A free reception with the artist will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.

Ms. Hirsch's work is inspired by winged creatures on earth and from above. The exhibition will feature textured pieces, a departure from the larger-than-life paintings she has displayed previously, that combine oil media and metal filings on wood panels to bring to life the images of birds in flight. Ms. Hirsch has displayed her work at numerous galleries in the New York metropolitan area.

Winner of the Award of Excellence from Manhattan Arts International Magazine, she was also recently awarded a grant from the Vermont Studio Center, the largest residency program for artists and writers in the United States.

The Manhattan Center Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Richard Vaux, director of exhibitions, at (516) 877-4462.
