On Sunday, August 17th, Team GC Boy Scouts along with many other Teams from our area headed to the Long Island Sound in Glen Cove to raise awareness and Swim to Fight Cancer.

They were part of an organization called Swim Across America. Founded in 1987, Swim Across America is a not for profit corporation raising awareness and funds for cancer research, prevention and treatment.

These swimmers braved the open waters in the early morning on Sunday to help spread the word and help fund this great cause. Representing Troops from Garden City, there were joined by several of their friends including some of the youngest to participate in the swim. Thanks to all who donated your time & money, without you this would not have been possible. A special thanks to the wonderful group of young swimmers making a difference one stroke at a time. If you would like more information regarding Swim Across America, you can visit their website at www.swimacrossamerica.org.
