A Word From The Publisher As we do each July, the publishers are on vacation in Vermont this week. Portions of this issue were prepared in advance, with the remainder completed by our staff. Some letters to the editor may have been held over until next week so that we can review them prior to publication, so if you have submitted one and it hasn't appeared, please be patient. It seems as though the formerly "dead" summers are not as quiet as they used to be. In years past, very little action took place during summer meetings of the village board, but it seems that things are busier than they used to be. We wonder whether there has been a change in the way people spend their summers - it seems as if more people are around town most of the summer instead of spending the summer elsewhere. (Maybe since most people now have air conditioning there is less of an impetus to go where it's cool!) Between the ongoing discussion about St. Paul's and the new litigation against the Hempstead Industrial Development Agency, there's still quite a lot going on in the news this summer. While it's difficult for us to pry ourselves away from the local news stream for this week, we're sure our staff will do a great job getting the paper out to you, our readers (and if you are reading this, they must have done so!) See you all next week!
