Arrests Made In Robbery Incidents

The Garden City Police Department report the arrests of six individuals for three incidents that occurred between 11:30 PM, June 24 and 1:45 AM, June 25. Five of the individuals: a male, age 15 of New Hyde Park, Dyland Laird, 17, of Southborough Massachusetts, Stephen Attard, 18, of New Hyde Park, a male, age 14 of New Hyde Park and Samuel Philip, 16, of New Hyde Park were charged with Robbery First Degree. Jaspreet Singh, 17, of New Hyde Park was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

Garden City Police report that the male, age 15, male age 14 and Philip assaulted and robbed a male of his cash and property as the victim exited a Stop N Shop on Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park. After this robbery, these three subjects were joined by Laird, Attard and Singh. The subjects proceed to walked to New Hyde Park Road in Garden City carrying bats, sticks and a crow bar. At that time they blocked the roadway and stopped a female motorist who was traveling southbound. They then surrounded the vehicle and removed cigarettes from her vehicle and attempted to get her to her vehicle. She refused and was able to drive away and immediately called the police. The subjects proceeded to flag down a male motorist who was driving a van north on New Hyde Park Rd.

Again the subjects surrounded the vehicle with the intention to steal the vehicle but the motorist was able to drive away but not before one of the subjects struck his van with a bat demanding that he stop. At this time Sgt Grimes, and PO Dallolio and PO Bandl arrived at the scene and gave chase to the subjects. They apprehended subjects Philip, Attard and the male age 15. A follow-up investigation was then conducted by Garden City Detectives assisted by the Nassau County Detectives which led to the arrest of the three remaining subjects. At this time all subjects involved are being charged as adults.
