Girls 6th Grade Grey Lacrosse Defeats Syosset

The girls jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first minute and half of the game. Shannon Callahan won all four draws and goals were scored by Shannon, Annie Blanco, and two by Haley O'Hanlon. Garden City then called time and discussed how to win gracefully and behave with good sportsmanship when playing an inferior opponent. The girls responded by playing very unselfishly and having lots of fun. Great defense starts with the goalie and Kristen Noonan had 6 first half saves. The defense of Molly Adams, Sara Ruhl, Regan Marooney, Nicole Chtchekine, and Helen Arellano were superb. Brianne Griffith, Katie O'Neill, Kayla Walczyk, and Stacey Madelmayer excelled both on offense and defense. Garden City would score four more goals before half with Jackie Marino, Zoe Karikas, Regan Marooney and Jackie O'Hare all scoring one. GC led 8-0 at half.

Annie Blanco played goal in the second half and stopped the first 5 shots. The girls really supported each other as they played different positions. Garden City would score five more goals with Caitlin Mahland, Amanda Vione netting one, Zoe her second, and Caitlin Riedell two. The final score was 13-5 and the girls remained very respectful of their opponents through out.
