Students in Christina Failla, Ed.D. and Marie Nuzzi's Spanish 3, 4 and 5 classes participated in a Spanish Poetry Recital Competition at Hofstra University on Wednesday, April 30. Kevin Gerspach won 2nd Place in the Level 4 Competition, and the other students received congratulatory certificates for their participation.

The participants from Ms. Nuzzi's classes were Victoria Chimento and Michelle Velez for Level 3 Spanish, Elizabeth DeBold for Level 4 Spanish, and Marissa Dioguardi and Meaghan Wallace for Level 5 Spanish. The participants from Dr. Failla's classes were Kenneth Ronzetti, Phillip Vouyiouklakis, Lauren Perrier, Andrew Gackowski, Kevin Gerspach and Salman Khalid for Level 4 Spanish.

They recited the poetry of Gabriela Mistral, Salvador de Madariaga, Pablo Neruda, Antonio Machado, Nicanor Parra, Jose Marti, Sergio Fernando and Julia de Burgos. All students performed impressively. The Garden City School District appreciates the hard work and dedication of these fine students. We are proud of all of them. Congratulations!
