The Newest Trends In Breast Cancer Treatment

The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer program presents its popular annual panel of breast cancer specialists telling about the latest trends in breast cancer treatment. The meeting will be held on Monday, June 16, from 7 to 9 pm at Adelphi's University Center in Garden City, Long Island.

Dr. Israeli has published numerous articles and has presented at regional, national and international plastic surgery conferences. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Israeli practices primarily at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Freya Schnabel is Director of Breast Surgery at NYU Medical Center and Professor of Surgery at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Schnabel is also the Medical Director of the High Risk Breast Cancer Program, Women at Risk. Dr. Shapira has worked on many research projects, including clinical research in breast cancer. In 2005 she was awarded First Prize for her work in Multiple Myeloma from The New York Society for the Study of Blood. Dr. Shapira is actively involved in clinical research and meets weekly with the interdisciplinary Tumor Board Conference Group, where challenging cases are reviewed. Her oncology focus is primarily on sarcoma, breast cancer, gynecological cancers and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Shari Einhorn is an award-winning journalist who has been with News 12 Long Island since 1995. She has won several prestigious honors for her in-depth coverage of local health issues, garnering EMMY awards for stories on smokers trying to kick the habit and on healthy school lunch alternatives. This year she was nominated for an EMMY award for her segment "Breast Cancer: A Sister's Story," an emotional profile of three sisters and their struggle against a family legacy of breast cancer. The Press Club of Long Island and the Associated Press have honored Ms. Einhorn's outstanding work.
